IUMS Warns of Consequences If US Moves Embassy to Quds
According to Anadolu Agency, the IUMS in a statement called on the Muslim Ummah to fulfil their responsibility over the issue, and urged international organizations to defend the legitimate rights of Palestinians.
It also regretted that discord and disunity in the Muslim world has emboldened ill-wishers to pursue their ominous objectives against the Muslim Ummah.
Trump repeatedly said during his campaign that if elected, he would not hesitate to relocate the embassy from Tel Aviv to Quds, which is regarded by Palestinians as their future capital.
The controversial decision has evoked Palestinians' bitter opposition.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has described the likely move as an "aggression” against the independent state of Palestine.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has also warned of "extremely serious consequences” if Trump relocated the US embassy from Tel Aviv, where it has been for 68 years, to the occupied Quds.
