The week-long event was organized by Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’a Waiqamatul Sunnah with its headquarters in Jos, Plateau State.
As many as 23 persons participated in the competition, which attracted participants from 19 states and neighboring Benin and Niger Republics, the Daily Trust reported.
Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of the Council of Ulama’a of the Association, Malam Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, said the main objective of the competition was to encourage constant recitation of the Holy Quran among Muslims in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
Niger State Governor Abubakar Bello commended the association for holding the annual spiritual event.
