TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held in Konya, Turkey, to mark the graduation of 750 memorizers of the Holy Quran.

Turkey’s Konya Hosts Quran Memorizers’ Graduation Ceremony

The Dar al-Ifta (house of Fatwa) organization held the ceremony, which was attended by Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop and Ali Erbas, president of the Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet).

In his address, Erbas highlighted a Hadith narrated from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that says the best of people are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others.

“You have learned the Quran here and will teach it to others as well,” he told the memorizers.

Erbas said that the Holy Quran is the biggest miracle, adding that God has sent the Holy Book to guide people out of darkness toward light.

At the ceremony, the 750 Quran memorizers, including 400 boys and 350 girls, received certificates of Quran memorization.

In a similar ceremony held in December last year, Erbas said that there are more than 170,000 people in Turkey who have committed the Quran to memory.

The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.

Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.

The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.
