Yerevan's Blue Mosque to Host Worshippers on Eid Al-Adha

On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, Armenian Muslims in Yerevan will hold the Eid congregational prayers at the city's Blue Mosque.

According to IQNA, the prayers and Eid ceremony will be held on October 5.
The mosque will also host Muslim citizens on the day of ‘Arafah as they will gather at the grand mosque to recite ‘Arafah Supplication.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Cultural Center in Armenia plans to organize a Quran memorization competition on the auspicious occasion.
Surah Al-Hashr has been selected for adults competition and children of the region will compete on memorization of Surah Al-Tin and Al-Takathur.
A written competition on concepts of Surah Al-Hashr based on “Noor Exegesis of the Quran” by Hojat-ol-Islam Qara’ati is another program of the Iranian center on the day.
Eid al-Adha (Festival of the sacrifice), also called the Feast of the Sacrifice, is one of the religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year.
It honors the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his promised son. Ishmael (Ismail)a as an act of submission to God's (Allah) command, before God then intervened to provide Abraham with a lamb to sacrifice instead.
In the lunar-based Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah.

 

This year, the Eid falls on Sunday, October 5.
