TEHRAN (IQNA) – Translation of the Noble Quran into the Armenian language has finished in Turkey.

Director of religious publications department at Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) said it took the translators 4 years to do the rendering, al-Misriyun news website reported.

Yuksel Salman added that at first 4000 copies of the rendering will be published and distributed freely among those interested.

He hoped that the move will help to get Armenians acquainted with the tenets and teachings of Islam on issues like compassion, respect, and tolerance.

Armenian is an Indo-European language spoken by the Armenians. It is the official language of the Republic of Armenia.

Salman noted that Diyanet plans to publish Quran translations into 15 other languages including English, Danish, French, Russian, and Albanian in the near future.

It has already released renderings of the Holy Book into languages such as Kurdish and Spanish, he went on to say.
