Muslim Scholars Promote Culture of Coexistence: Chinese Muslim Figure

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Muslim scholars promote the culture of coexistence and tolerance, the head of the Islamic association of China said.

Jo Ping Ma, in his address to the opening session of the 37th Islamic Unity Conference, said the scholars promote coexistence between the Muslim and non-Muslim community in China.

He referred to more than three centuries of Islam in China and said, “Islam entered China in the first six decades and turned into a major faith in the country.”

Jo Ping Ma also referred to efforts by Confucius to prevail his principles in China though Muslims also introduced their religious beliefs according to the Holy Quran.

Head of the Islamic association of China addressed the 37th Islamic Unity Conference held in Tehran on Sunday morning.

The 37th International Islamic Unity Conference, which is held both in-person and online, was inaugurated with the recitation of some verses from the Holy Quran at Tehran's Summit Hall.

More than 200 Iranian and foreign intellectuals and religious figures from various Muslim countries are participating in the conference, which is organized by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought. The event will conclude on October 3.

 

The online section of the conference started on Thursday, September 28.

The 17th day of Rabi al-Awwal, which falls on October 3 this year, is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month (September 28) as the birthday of the last prophet.

The interval between the two dates is celebrated every year as the Islamic Unity Week.

Late Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini (RA) declared the occasion the Islamic Unity Week back in the 1980s.
