IQNA – The 31st International Holy Quran Exhibition is an opportunity to build up interaction and cooperation among Muslim states in different areas including art, interpretation, and recitation, an official said.

31st Intl Quran Exhibition

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mustafa Hosseini Neishaburi, director of the international section of the event, made the statements while speaking to IQNA on the sidelines of the event on Monday.

Pointing to the participation of artists and thinkers from 26 different countries in this year’s event, he said, “Their participation is mutually beneficial. It allows other countries to appreciate Iran’s artistic abilities in conveying the message of Islam, while Iran gains insights into the artistic capabilities of other Islamic countries in the field of Quranic and religious art.”

“This fosters a positive interaction between Iran and other Islamic countries,” he stressed.

In the areas of publishing, interpretation, gilding, calligraphy, and related arts, participating states learn from each other’s skills, creating a synergy, he said.

Furthermore, Iran has established memorandums of understanding with various countries for cooperation, he said, noting that for instance, Iran can learn from Pakistan’s successful experience in training Quran memorizers and similarly, Iran and Saudi Arabia have had successful experiences in the field of interpretation or Quranic software, and also Egypt has demonstrated many capacities in the field of Quran recitation while Turkey has excelled in the field of calligraphy and Quran writing, and Iran has shown great skill in gilding.

“This exhibition, therefore, provides an opportunity for synergy and collaboration between different countries and their artists, and these collaborations can continue beyond the exhibition,” he said.

‘Resistance in Quran’

The official also pointed to the measures adopted this year to raise awareness about the issue of Palestine and the dire situation of people in Gaza where Israeli attacks since October has killed more than 32,200 people, mostly women and children.

“To highlight the issue of Palestine and utilize the capacity of the exhibition, we have organized an event called ‘Resistance in the Quran’,” he said.

“As part of this event, calligraphers at the exhibition collaborate with interested visitors to write verses of resistance from the Holy Quran every night,” he said, noting, “This is because the concept of resistance is not just a political and military concept, but also a Quranic one. Anyone committed to religion and the Quran cannot ignore these verses of resistance.”

Additionally, meetings about Palestine are held every night, attended by prominent domestic and international figures, he added.
