IQNA – A Lebanese analyst has listed eight points about Iran’s retaliatory strike against the Israeli regime which came after an Israeli attack on an Iranian diplomatic building in Syria.

On April 1, the Israeli regime committed a terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.

Retaliating against the attack, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, has inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.

Following the reprisal, Iran both relayed the message that it viewed the matter as “concluded,” and also warned of a “bigger” response in case the regime or its allies target Iran.

Sending an Op-Ed to IQNA, Lebanese political analyst Hossein Ali Rezq refers to eight points about Iran’s strike:

1) Iran has made it clear that any assault on its territory, whether within its geographical borders or at its diplomatic centers, is a red line. Such an attack warrants a direct, transparent, and public response from within the country. In its recent attack, Iran demonstrated strategic intelligence by focusing solely on specific military targets. At the same time, it didn’t ignore other areas, causing the settlers to hear the sounds of sirens and sky explosions.

2) Iran showcased its military, intelligence, and diplomatic prowess by delivering its drones and missiles to Israel and striking several targets within the country. This was achieved despite the military and intelligence warnings and the high readiness of the air defense systems. This is while some of the world’s strongest military nations (including the US, the UK, France, Israel, and several Arab countries) were waiting for the strike and given long distance and 2-3 hours of flight time before the drones and missiles reached Israel, they were under complete observation.

From a diplomatic perspective, Iran exercised self-restraint for a few days, giving the world and the Security Council a chance to condemn the bombing of its consulate in Damascus and handle it diplomatically. However, the world’s arrogant powers, in their support for the Israeli regime, turned a blind eye to the facts and remained silent. As a result, Iran was compelled to respond to the regime’s attack under Article 51 of the UN Charter, in self-defense.

3) The Iranians managed to humiliate Israel and its allies by broadcasting their military operations live. In the past, Israel exaggerated its concerns about a potential Iranian attack, which would lead to ridicule and humiliation if it occurred. However, this attack exceeded Israel’s exaggerations, with sirens ringing in over 720 locations across the occupied territories.

4) Iran successfully waged a psychological war against Israel. It kept the regime, its citizens, and its supporters on high alert, instilling a sense of fear and anxiety. The entire regime was concerned about the potential missile strike. It’s worth noting that Iran did not deploy all of its strategic combat capabilities in its attack.

5) The Iranians launched an independent attack without any interference from their partners in the axis of resistance. This demonstrates that Iran possesses sufficient power to confront its adversaries and does not require assistance from its allies.

6) Iran managed to neutralize the threats and intimidation from European countries, particularly the United States of America. On the other hand, it also prevented the opposing parties from taking any retaliatory action.

7) Iran responded to the attack using just one option, without the need to resort to other measures such as closing the Strait of Hormuz, targeting locations outside Israel, or seeking assistance from its allies.

8) Iran’s attack represented a breach of the norms and rules of a conflict that has been ongoing for 45 years. As a result of Iran’s actions, the image of Israel’s deterrence has been shattered, leading to a humiliating situation for the regime.
