Mohammad Hossein Hashemi told IQNA that the exhibit has been organized by Arad Cultural Institute in cooperation with the Iranian Cultural Center in Abu Dhabi.
He said the event, which opened on Monday, January 27, has been sponsored by the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council’s committee for developing the Quranic culture.
According to Mr. Hashemi, as well as Iran’s ambassador to the UAE, a number of senior Emirati officials including Culture and Youth Minister Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan were present at the opening ceremony.
He said the Emirati minister addressed the ceremony and regarded staging the exhibition as a major step toward deepening the two countries’ relations.
The “Position of the Holy Quran in Persian Art exhibition” will be running in the capital of the United Arab Emirates until February 4.
Mr. Hashemi noted that rare copies of the Quran as well as Quranic calligraphy, Tazhib (illumination), miniature, Muarraq (wood carving) and marquetry artworks are among the works on display at the expo.
