Volga Bulgaria was a historic Bulgar state that existed between the 7th and 13th centuries around the confluence of the Volga and Kama River, in what is now European Russia.

The jubilee is celebrated this year. The ministry has allocated 10 million rubles for the creation, support and promotion of the website.

The website is created to cover the events dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria on the Internet. The events began as early as January both in Tatarstan and in other parts of Russia, including in Moscow.

With the help of the website, it is planned to get the public acquainted with the history of Islam in Russia.

Promoting the “traditional spiritual values and intellectual heritage of Russian Muslims” and “realization of the history and culture of the peoples of Middle Volga Region since the 10th century until now in the light of the adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria” are other goals.

The website is also designed to attract Russian Muslims to the workmanship and Russian events related to the celebration of the jubilee.
