TEHRAN (IQNA) – A special ceremony was held in an Egyptian village to celebrate the young boys and girls who memorized the whole Quran, stealing the attention of the country’s media outlets.

The villagers of Al-Shanbab in Badrshein city in Giza Governorate, organized a lavish ceremony to honor their 42 sons and daughters who memorized and mastered the entire Quran in the past year. They did this despite having limited resources, Al-Watan reported.

The young Quran memorizers were greeted by Quranic professors and village officials as they walked on a 300-meter carpeted path among the spectators.

The ceremony was coordinated by the endowments department and local authorities.

Ahmad Imran, a coordinator of the ceremony, said that the villagers laid out the 300-meter-long ceremonial carpet to show their respect for the guardians of God's book. Ten thousand people attended the ceremony to honor the boys and girls.

He said that a number of charities will support these young Quran memorizers in the future and give them opportunities to participate in national and international competitions.

According to Imran, local people and officials provided donations for holding this event for the memorizers who received case prizes and certificates of appreciation.
