IQNA – Activists and youths movements in Palestine have called for massive participation of people in this week’s Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al-Aqsa Mosque

They urged all mosques in the holy city of al-Quds to close on Friday so that people would flock to Al-Aqsa Mosque for the congregational prayers, Al-Quds Al-Arabi daily reported.

They stressed that the massive presence of worshippers at the mosque would break the Zionist regime’s restrictions put in place in recent weeks.

The activist reminded the people of al-Quds that the people of Gaza have sacrificed everything they have in defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque and it is their responsibility to take action in defending the mosque as well.

The people of al-Quds are the ones who must decide on the entry and exist of al-Aqsa Mosque not the Zionist occupiers, they underlined.

Since the launch of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation by the Gaza-based Hamas resistance movement on October 7, the Israeli regime has imposed restrictions on Palestinian worshippers’ visits to Al-Aqsa Mosque.

On December 15, Israeli restrictions prevented tens of thousands of Palestinians from attending Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque on the tenth Friday since October 7.

“Only 7,000 individuals managed to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque for Friday prayers, a significant decrease from the usual attendance of over 50,000 on regular Fridays,” according to an official from the Islamic Waqf Department in al-Quds.

Meanwhile, the Zionist regime’s war on the Gaza Strip continues, resulting in nearly 20,000 fatalities and more than 51,000 injuries, predominantly affecting children and women.

The war has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, leading to what Palestinian and international sources describe as an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”
